How to Apply for Scholarships

Each year, The Foundation for Western Professionals will award scholarships
to youth in Agriculture/Western industries which can be applied toward
education or livestock purchases.  A check on behalf of each winner will be
paid directly to the College, University, Trade School or Livestock Seller
(or appropriate vendor) on behalf of our scholarship recipients.

Scholarship applications are accepted from January 1 through
May 31 of each calendar year.
   After the Scholarship Committee reviews all

applications, final winner selections will be made by June 30.  Winner
announcements will be made by July 31.

Any person, from any state, between the ages of 10 - 25 can apply for a
scholarship.  Our Scholarship Committee will select a winner(s) from
each of the following categories:

  • Universities/Colleges

  • Vocational/Trade School or other accredited schooling
    (Examples: Private Academy, Charter Schools, Cosmetology, Welding,
    Massage Therapist, HVAC, Mechanic, Hospitality, Electrician, Vocational, Farrier, and more)

  • Livestock and/or Expenses (to purchase livestock and/or cover livestock expenses for 4-H or FFA projects)

APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS --- To apply for scholarships, you must meet these requirements:

  • You must have a Youth Membership through the Foundation website.

    • Youth Memberships are FREE.  A one-time $10 processing fee is required.​

  • Be between the ages of 10 and 25 on the date you submit your application.   Application categories are:

    • University Scholarships -- Ages 18-25​ (you must be currently enrolled)

    • Vocational/Trade School or other accredited schooling -- Ages 14-25 (you must be currently enrolled)

    • Livestock Scholarships -- Ages 13 - 17

    • Novice/Jr. Animal Scholarships -- Ages 10-12

APPLICATION FAQ's

  • As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we are required to pay cash scholarships directly to the University, trade school, or charter school where you are enrolled.

  • Livestock scholarships will be paid directly to the vendor selling the livestock, and/or a reimbursement check can be paid to the scholarship recipient upon receipt of a livestock purchase in the same year as the scholarship was won.
