Two-Day Professional/Pageant Modeling Workshop
-- We're looking for interest before moving forward --
The Foundation for Western Professionals is always looking for ways to educate and open the doors for potential job/career opportunities for agricultural youth.
For young women who enjoy pageantry and the skills they learn by participating, the Foundation would like to up your modeling game, and even help parlay those skills into possible work opportunities.
While most clinics touch on this, our Board of Directors is discussing the idea of sponsoring a two-day workshop dedicated to modeling -- JUST modeling. Not just pageant modeling, but the modeling industry, how runway modeling differs from industry to industry, and how to potentially earn money doing runway shows.
For example, rodeo queens today model and use turns in a similar way that was used in the 1980's by runway queens like Naomi Campbell. Today, models in major markets (New York, Milan, Spain, Chicago and more) rarely use turns on the runway unless specifically instructed to do so by the designer or the show choreographer.
Our clinicians would include people who have worked in these industries and can speak from personal experience as paid models, instructors, model agency owners and more.
Tentatively this workshop could include the following:
-
Video review of the different industry modeling styles
-
The business of modeling
-
Differences between commercial and fashion runway modeling
-
How to put together a model gig bag
-
How to handle clothing being sponsored for a fashion show (tags, perfume, how to carry bags, proper jacket removal, etc)
-
Core basic fundamentals of runway modeling (posture, walk, musicality, attitude)
-
Turns -- Learn 10+ modeling turns used since the 1980's and where to use them
-
Hand positions -- the difference between how men and women use hands
-
Rules of the runway
-
Runway safety
-
Group runway techniques (chevrons, pairs, quads, etc.)
-
A mock runway show on day two
-
And MUCH MORE
